The Robert H. Hart Scholarship - Meriden Schools Federal Credit Union
The Robert H. Hart Community Service Award was established by the Meriden Schools Federal Credit Union in honor of Robert H. Hart, teacher, principal, visionary and member of the Board of Directors for 55 years. These awards are granted to a college bound high school senior who demonstrates leadership, scholastic excellence, community involvement and a deep respect and understanding of the principles upon which the credit union was founded; service to others without regard for recognition or reward. These awards are based on the qualities listed above, 2 letters of recommendation, high school transcript, must be an upcoming freshman entering a two or four year college, must be an active member, in good standing, or the credit union, show financial need and academic excellence.This application is due in the Counseling Office by April 16. **** The Meriden Foundation Scholarships ****
The Meriden Foundation has established a scholarship program to assist residents of Meriden who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs after high school graduation. Renewable scholarships are offered each year to full time study at an accredited institution of the student's choice. Eligibility requirements: High school seniors residing in the city of Meriden and attending HC Wilcox Technical, Platt HS or Maloney HS planning to enroll in full time undergraduate study at an accredited two or four year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year. 100 Years of Women Scholarship Award
This scholarship is to honor a student who, as a role model or advocate, has demonstrated a commitment to women's issues through service to their community or school. Applicants must be enrolled at UConn for the entire Fall 2015/Spring 2016 academic year. The scholarship award ranges from $250 to $1,000. Some of the eligibility criteria includes: commitment to women's issues, planning to enroll at UCONN, financial need and high academic performance. New Haven County Tax Collectors' Association Annual Scholarship
In order to qualify for consideration, an applicant must be a resident of New Haven County, a senior in high school; in good standing in school, planning to continue his/her education, and current in his/her tax obligations. An essay on the topic of "How State and Local Taxes Can Affect My Education" is also required. The deadline for this award is February 13. Applications are available in the Counseling Office.
Buick Achievers Scholarships
The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program wants to help those who put forth the effort and find success both in and out of the classroom, yet are unable to attend college without financial assistance. Buick encourages the following to apply: high school seniors, those who plan to enroll full time at a four year college or university, those who plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry. The Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund
This award will be made available at the national level during the high school academic year 2014/2015 by the Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund in honor of Janice Marie Scott, who was one of the 125 individuals who perished in the Pentagon on September 11, 2001 when terrorists crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into the building of the Pentagon. This award is based primarily on a "need" basis. Application packets and criteria information are available in the Counseling Office. The deadline for this scholarship is March 17.
The Midstate Chamber of Commerce Educational Awards
4 scholarships are available:
* The Sanford S. Schorr Chamber of Commerce Education Award
* The Chamber's Hispanic Outreach Leaders in action Committee (HOLA) – presents 2 awards for applicants of Hispanic decent.
* The Dan M. Hunter Community Service Education Award – given to a graduating student who shows exemplary grades in the classroom, above average participation in school-related activities, and has proven to be a valued asset to the community in which he/she lives or attends school.
* NEW in 2015 – The Chamber will also be accepting applications for the Bruce H. Kannenbert & Jonal Laboratories, Inc. Education Award. This is a
4 year award for a Meriden resident graduating from a Meriden public school who will be pursuing a degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or Business.

Alpha Delta Kappa
Alpha Delta Kappa PSI Chapter, an International Honorary Organization for Women Educators, is seeking applicants interested in pursuing a career in education. They are offering a $1,500 scholarship to a qualified candidate. Applications and criteria is available in the Counseling Office Scholarship Binder and well as in Naviance. The deadline for this scholarship is March 2.
These scholarships are available to qualified high school seniors who are interested in a career in teaching. This is sponsored by the Glenn Moon Scholarship Fund, Inc. of the Association of Retired Teachers of Connecticut (ARTC).The 2015 application form in ON LINE ONLY. The deadline for submission is March 31, 2015.
USBC – CT State Bowling Association
The CT State USBC Association is seeking applicants for their two academic scholarships. The applicant does not need to be an active bowler. For the first available scholarship, the student, parent or grandparent must be a current member of the CT State USBC Association. For the second scholarship, the student's mother or grandmother must be a current member of the CT State USBC Association. Applications are available in the Counseling Office. The amount of each scholarship is $1,000.This application and documentation is due in the Counseling Office by March 3.
American Association of University Women – Greater Meriden Branch
This organization is offering a $1,500 scholarship to a senior student who meets the following requirements: resides in Meriden, ranks in the top 20% of the graduation class, plans to attend a four-year college and exhibits financial need. Applications are available in the Counseling Office. The deadline for this scholarship is February 24, 2015.
SCASA - South Central Area Superintendents Associations
Two scholarships in the amount of $500 each are awarded yearly to seniors graduating from public high schools in the South Central Area in honor of those superintendents who have passed away while in service as a superintendent. The scholarships are given directly to selected students for the purpose of supporting their pursuit of careers in K-12 public education. This application is due in the Counseling Office by January 20th.
Ride-4-Justin – Justin Wisniewski Firefighters' Scholarship Fund
Justin Wisniewski, an 18 year old volunteer firefighter from Southington, died in the Line of Duty during a training session at the Wolcott Training Center April 3, 20115. To honor Justin's memory, his family, along with the Southington Fire Department, Company 1, has established this fund. The scholarship is based totally on volunteerism, and the scholarships are given to firefighters, spouse, child or sibling of a firefighter. This application is due in the Counseling Office by March 18. More information and criteria is available in the Scholarship Binder in the Counseling Office as well as on Naviance.
Ray LaMay Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior student who attends Maloney or Platt. Applicants must be accepted at an accredited University, College, Community College or Technical School. It is based on an essay "How has your life changed since someone special to you has been affected by cancer?", activeness in the school community and financial need. Daughters of the American Revolution - DAR
This Daughters of the American Revolution scholarship is available to any boy or girl, providing he/she is in the upper 25% of their senior class. The scholarships are awarded on a basis of scholastic ability, character, leadership potential and financial need. The DAR application is due in the Guidance Office by April 17, 2015. MARC, INC The Meriden Amateur Radio Club will award this scholarship to a student interested in pursuing an education in the field of communications, electronics and/or related fields. Preference will be given to anyone with a license in amateur radio or a relative of the club. The deadline for this application is April 17, 2015.
A scholarship for a high school senior entering the teaching profession. The deadline for this application is March 26, 2015. The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc. This scholarship offers renewable, four year scholarships to students with financial need who display academic achievement, a commitment to serving others (in school, the community or at home), a strong work ethic, and leadership qualities. CASIA CT Alarm & Systems Integrators Association
– each eligible student must have a father, mother or natural guardian who is a full time paid employee (not on disability or retired) of the Connecticut Police or Fire Communities. Volunteer fire departments are recognized. However, students who are volunteers themselves, but not the child of a firefighter, are not eligible. The deadline for this application is February 13, 2015.
The Princeton Prize in Race Relations:
The Princeton Prize in Race Relations recognizes high school students who are helping improve race relations in their schools or communities. Apply online at: www.princeton.edu/pprize. The Milton Fisher Scholarship for Innovation and Creativity
This scholarship is awarded to high school and college students who are unusually innovative and creative problem-solvers. All eligible students are encouraged to apply. Interested applicants must complete the Milton Fisher Scholarship Fund Application on or before April 30, 2015. Online applications can be accessed at www.rbffoundation.org. Hood Sportsmanship Scholarship
Hood Inc. is looking for high school seniors who participated in a varsity sport and who will be furthering their education by attending a two or four year accredited college or university next year. Students must have earned a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher and performed volunteer work in the community to be eligible. This is an on-line application and information can be found at www.Hood.com. James L. and Genevieve H. Goodwin Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial aid, depending on need, to students who are residents of CT and are enrolled in undergraduate or graduate curriculum in silviculture or forest resource management.
