Gus Robotics Wins Championship Awards

Congratulations to Gus Robotics! Recently, Gus Robotics attended a Connecticut VEX Robot Competition. Team 228 had two awesome robots that competed at the event. Both robots made it to the finals and won! The two VEX robot teams won a total of four awards at the competition. Two of the awards were Championship Awards, One Drivers Skills Award, and the Innovate Award. Now both VEX Robot teams will be going to Dallas, TX in April to compete at the World Championship. !mpact Presentation : Juniors, Seniors and Parents

In a moment everything can change. Your decisions not only affect you, they affect your family and friends too. On Thursday, March 25th at Platt High School there will be a powerful presentation given by SADD, Rushford and dmhas. The evening will go like this: 5:30-6pm dinner (pizza) in Cafeteria. From 6-7:30pm !MPACT presentation in auditorium. After the presentation, from 7:30-8/8:30pm you can visit tables and booths to get valuable resources. **THIS PROGRAM IS INTENDED FOR ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND PARENTS/GUARDIANS.

Attention Seniors! Please read the Guidance News bulletin board in the main hallway to see what scholarships are available. The bulletin board is updated every time a new scholarship is posted. Attention Seniors:

All Seniors should visit the guidance office for information on College and Technical School visits. It is your responsiblity to sign up for these visits. Please remember that you need twenty hours of community service to graduate.

Gus Robotics

Gus Robotics is looking for NEW students to join - meetings are on Mondays and Wednesdays at Maloney High School in the woodshop from 6:30-9:00pm. Please check our website for more information: ww.team228.org. All students are invited to join Gus Robotics.

Room Service : March 18th, 19th and 20th

The Fine Arts Department will present the production of "Room Service" on March 18th , 19th and 20th at 7pm in the auditorium. Thursday, March 18th production is student discount night.

SAT/ACT Workshop Offered at Public Library

A SAT/ACT Testing program will be held on Saturday, April 3 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Griffin Room at the Meriden Public Library. This program offers a practice test session for SAT/ACT. Both of these workshops are free. Please call Mrs. Alexis Burgess at (203) 630-6349 to register and if you have any questions.

Damika Martinez Breaks School Record; Leads Girls Basketball Team to CIAC Class L Win Over Wilby

Junior Damika Martinez scored 44 points (31pts in the second half) to lead the lady panthers over Wilby by a score of 66 - 47 in the first round of the CIAC tournament. The Panthers will play undefeated E. O. Smith away on Wednesday, March 3rd. Damika was the youngest player to reach 1000 career points earlier this season.

Free Sports Physicals - Sign Up NOW

Attention all athletes! It is now time to sign up for sports physicals. The sign ups are now taking place in the nurse’s office. The physicals are free of charge and will be given in May. Please see the school nurse for permission forms.

FYI: For Your Information

Medical Physicals Required for 9th graders

All 9th graders are required to have a physical before entering the 10th grade. The physical must be dated from May 1st, 2009 or after. If this physical is not handed in to the nurse by the end of the school year students will not be able to enter school on the first day of 10th grade.

Mr. Flynn Receives Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award.

On Monday, Commissioner of Education Mark McQuillan and Milken Foundation Jane Foley awarded Mr. James Flynn the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award. Career Cruising - Online Exploration and Planning Tool ; Check it out!

Platt and Maloney have purchased Career Cruising to use as the primary career exploration and planning tool in guidance and the career center. Career Cruising is an internet based career exploration and planning tool used by students to explore career and college options and develop a career plan.
