The Junior Civitan Club will be collecting money for Strides

September Assemblies : My City Kitchen Presents Mr. Teddy Herrera
Wednesday, September 15th : Mr. Teddy Herrera Presents "Be Healthy
Stay Fit" Seminar for Family Science and other classes. Mr. Herrera
will be in the Meriden area as he rides "11,000 miles" across
America for Childhood Obesity.

Medical Physicals Required for All 10th Grader Students
All 9th graders are required to have a physical before entering
the 10th grade. Also, new students from out of state or new to this
country must have a physical before entering school. The physical must
be dated from May 1st, 2009 or after. Physicals are being offered
starting the week of August 23, 2010
at the Meriden Health Department. For more information or to make an

Gus Robotics Wins Championship Awards
Congratulations to Gus Robotics! Recently,
Gus Robotics attended a Connecticut VEX Robot Competition. Team 228
had two awesome robots that competed at the event. Both robots made
it to the finals and won! The two VEX robot teams won a total of
four awards at the competition. Two of the awards were Championship
Awards, One Drivers Skills Award, and the Innovate Award. Both
VEX Robot teams went to Dallas, TX in April to compete at
the World Championship. Way to go Team 228! For more information

Poetry/Writing Club

Mr. Flynn Receives Milken Family Foundation National Educator
Award.
On Monday, Commissioner of Education Mark McQuillan and Milken Foundation
Jane Foley awarded Mr. James Flynn the Milken Family Foundation National
Educator Award. The presentation of this award was given to Mr. Flynn in
front of the whole school and Board of Education members. Platt High School
