End of Year May & June Calendar

National Honor Society Induction : Thursday, May 17th

Congratulations to the following students for their selection for membership in the National Honor Society, based on their academic eligibility, character, leadership, and service. A formal induction ceremony will take place on May 17th at 7:00 p.m. in the downstairs library. Congratulations to our newest members: Stephanie Aguilera, Margaret Balogh, Samantha Barillaro, Michael Brazier, Noah Corey, Elizabeth Crane, Ariana D’Avanzo, Vincenza DiDomenico, Yesenia Hernandez, Evan James, Emanuel Keiler, James Keiler, Kristion Neysmith, James Rolstone, Abigail Rudnicki, Envy Stone, and Jacob Zagorski.

Hicks Speech Contest Finalists - Wednesday, May 23rd

Congratulations to Nicole Carbone, Evan James, Brendan Mitchell and Jillian Pascale for making it to the final round in this year's Hicks Speaking Contest. Come see who wins this year's top spot in the downstairs library Wednesday, May 23 at 7:00. Refreshments will be served! A sincere thanks to all who participated in this year's competition!

Fine Arts Evening : Art Exhibition and Music Concert - Wednesday, May 30th

O.H. Platt High School Fine Arts Department will present an evening of art and music. This special evening will be held on Wednesday, May 30th. The Art Exhibit will run from 6:00pm to 6:45pm followed by the concert. The music will begin at 7pm. Price will be $1 for students and $2 for adults.

Senior Prom : Ticket Sales Extended

Make your dreams come true at this year's prom where "Forever is Tonight". This fairy tale evening will be held Saturday, June 2, at the Aqua Turf in Southington. Tickets will be sold Monday, May 6 to Friday, May 18. All dues and obligations must be paid before buying a ticket. Cash, bank checks or money orders only. See Mr. Boada in room 103.

Senior Outing : Friday, May 25th Tickets on Sale NOW

Celebrate all of your hard work this year with your friends at the Senior Outing! Holiday Hill in Cheshire is just the place to do it. Rides, music, dancing, games, two swimming pools, horseback riding, and food, food, food! Tickets are $20 and will be sold Monday, May 14th to Friday, May 18th. All dues and obligations must be paid before buying a ticket. Cash, bank checks or money orders only. See Mr. Boada in room 103.

Graduation : Caps and Gowns

Caps and gowns are a must for graduation! What else would you wear? They are only $20. See Mrs. Hanson to purchase your cap and gown for graduation. Cash, bank checks or money orders only.

Library Club - Open To All Students

Our new Library Club is being formed—open to all students. Please come to the library on Monday after school to take part in interesting library activities, such as book talks, on-line research, and library organization help. Earn panther dollars and community service credits!

PHS Chess Club : Wednesday's at 2pm

The Platt High School Chess Club meets every Wednesday in the upstairs library. Thinking about learning to play chess - we will teach you the game. Our alumni members have won regional tournaments and have been state ranked. The game of chess can be enjoyed for a lifetime. We meet in the upstairs library every Wednesday..

Platt High School Music Club

The PHS Music Club will meet on Friday’s after school in the library. Come to share in a “music appreciation” session, from 2:00 to 2:40pm.

Platt Tennis to host Memorial Day Weekend Tennis Tournament : Sign Up Deadline Extended to May 18th

Platt Girls' and Boys' Tennis teams will hold a Memorial Day Weekend Doubles Only Tennis Tournament. The tournament will take place on May 26th and 27th at the Paul Crone Tennis Complex at Platt High School. The event will host Men's, Women and Mixed Doubles. This event is open to adults and students. The cost will be $40.00 per team. All entries will get a t-shirt and awards will be given out to the winners. HDFS Diaper Drive

HDFS is sponsoring a Diaper Drive. Please consider donating a box of diapers to our project. Many families struggle with the cost of diapers since they are not covered by such programs as WIC, etc. Diapers can be brought to room 16 through the end of May. They will be picked up from a representative from the New Haven area Diaper Bank. Monetary donations are also welcome - we will purchase diapers with any money received.

Exemplary Achievement Project Award : Panther Soap-Get Your Dirty Paws Off Me!

Congratulations to Mrs. Gajecki and Mr. Maresh for receiving the Exemplary Achievement Project Award : Panther Soap - Get Your Dirty Paws Off Me! The chemistry teachers along with their students have created an organic soap business to learn the economic side of science and business. The soap sells for $4.50 a bar or $20 for five bars, before and after school everyday. They have created twelve different scents. A reception in their honor will be held on Monday, May 14th in the BOE Board Room from 2:30pm to 4:30pm.

Attention Athletes : Make Your Physical Appointment Now

Sports physicals are now being offered for athletes after May 1st. Both physicals can be done here at the CHC School based Health Clinic but a form must be signed by a parent. The forms are available in the Nurses Office.

Guidance Announcement : Summer Enrichment Programs

Attention students in grades 9-11 : Be sure to stop by the school counseling office to check out the numerous college enrichment programs available for you this summer. Some programs even offer scholarships! We hope you take advantage of this great opportunity!

Attention Students/Parents : Free Academic Tutoring : Monday - Thursday

Upward Bound tutors are available to assist ALL Platt students every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:30 – 4:00pm in the cafeteria. Please utilize this wonderful resource. During the school day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Mrs. Soto-Johnson is available for Math tutoring. You can visit her in the library for help for all levels of Math (Algebra - Calculus). By appointment National Honor Society students are also available for peer tutoring.
