All You Can Eat Taco Night : Friday, January 27th

The Platt High School Band and Chorus Boosters are hosting "All You Can Eat Taco Night" on January 27th in the cafeteria from 5pm to 8pm. Entertainment for the evening will feature our Chorus and Instrumental students. Themed raffle baskets include Vera Bradley products, handmade quilt, Chocolate Lovers, Summer Barbeque and more. The cost will be $8.00 per person and $5.00 per person 10 and under. Tickets may be purchased from Band and Chorus students. For more information you can contact Kim Carbone-Pandiani.

Indoor Flea Market and Tag Sale - Saturday, January 28th

Come to the first annual Platt High School Indoor Flea Market and Tag Sale on Saturday, January 28, 2012 in the cafeteria from 8:00am - 1:00pm. Admission is $1. Click here if you are interested in being a vendor?

Student Scheduling

We will begin the process of registering students for their classes for the 2012-2013 school year on January 25th. Every student should have received a Program of Studies in school last week. This booklet contains all the information you need to help your child make a good decision in regards to creating their schedule for next year. If you have an concerns please contact your student's guidance counselor. Click here to view the Program of Studies.

Penguin Plunge For Special Olympics

On February 11th, about 40 students and 15 staff members from Platt High School will be plunging into the icy waters of Hammonasset State Park to raise money for the Special Olympics of CT. A few other students and staff from area schools have joined this "Panther Pack" as well. Click here to donate to the team and select "Support Panther Pack". Or send cash or check made payable to "Special Olympics Connecticut" to Kristi Ullman at Platt High School by February 3rd.

Save the Dates : Chili's Fundraiser

Please mark these dates on your calendars! Chili's will donate 10% of all sales to Platt High School on the following dates: Thursday, Feb 9th; Tuesday, March 20th; Thursday, April 26th. Vouchers for these nights will be coming soon! All profits earned from these nights will go towards student incentives.

Coach Bryan McCarty Honored As Connecticut Outstanding Wrestling Coach of the Year

The Connecticut High School Coaches Association will honor Bryan McCarty as the outstanding wrestling coach of the year on May 10th at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington. Congratulations Coach McCarty!!!

ECE Environmental Science Course

The PHS Science Department will be offering an ECE (Early College Experience) Environmental Science Course during the 2012/13 school year taught by Ms. LeClair. This course will earn college credit. Topics of the course will include air pollution, water pollution, water usage rights, solid waste disposal and trash to energy. The course also requires students to participate in laboratory and field investigation activities such as collecting and analyzing water samples, conducting long-term studies of some local system or environmental problem such as pollution from a nearby stream, analyze a real data set, and visit a local public facility such as a water-treatment plant. This is an exciting and growing field of science. Stop by and see Ms. LeClair or Mr. McMinn for a flyer.

Platt Students Win Rotary Awards

Francesca Fontanez won the Meriden Rotary Club Four-Way Test Speaking Contest while Freshmen Ramah Barmo came in third. Senior Amy Brazauski placed second in the essay contest. Congratulations to all our winners!

Panther Debate Team Advance to State Finals

Platt's debate team went to their first ever tournament and showed off their Panther Pride. The combination of Moriah Cruz and Ryan Halligan went undefeated, beating all three of their opponents to earn a place at the State Finals in March.

Do you need community service?

Do you enjoy working with people who have special needs? Then join us at the Colony Lanes bowling alley in Wallingford. We need students to help our special needs people bowl. Please join us Friday's at 5:00 pm and/or Sunday mornings at 9:45am. We cant wait to see you! If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Murphy in room 70.

Attention Students/Parents : Free Academic Tutoring : Monday - Thursday

Upward Bound tutors are available to assist ALL Platt students every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:30 – 4:00pm in the cafeteria. Please utilize this wonderful resource. During the school day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Mrs. Soto-Johnson is available for Math tutoring. You can visit her in the library for help for all levels of Math (Algebra - Calculus). By appointment National Honor Society students are also available for peer tutoring.

Science CAPT Camp: Every Wednesday After School in the Cafeteria

The Platt High School Science Department is offering Science CAPT Camp to Freshman and Sophomores. Come and get prepared for science CAPT. You will also be eligible for many prizes including an Ipod Touch 4G. See Mr. McMinn for details.
