SAT/PSAT testing
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Platt High School will be administering the PSAT 8/9 to grade 9 students, PSAT to grade 10 students, and the CT School Day SAT to grade 11 students, on Wednesday, March 26th. These tests are administered at no cost to students, and they measure skills in critical reading, math problem-solving skills, and writing and language. Connecticut uses the SAT as part of our annual state assessment for juniors, so it is important that students participate in testing. The SAT is used by many colleges and universities as part of the student application and admission process, and the scores from this test may also be used for that purpose.
Grade 12 students should use the time independently for post-high school planning and completion of graduation requirements, such as the 20-hour minimum for community service. They may also use the day to work on current or owed assignments for their classes.
All tests will once again be administered in Bluebook and it provides an overall easier testing experience for students. Your child will test using their school-provided device. It is important that students bring their devices that day fully charged, along with the charging cord.
Testing will occur from approximately 7:30 am to 11:30 am, so students need to arrive at school on time. Lunch will be served once testing concludes. Disruptions will not be permitted. For test security reasons, cell phones and other electronic devices will be collected, labeled, and secured for the duration of the test.
